For one of its clients, the company is seeking a Transportation and Operations Coordinator who will oversee the day-to-day functioning of inbound and outbound transport activities, fleet-related programs, and distribution support. The position is centered on ensuring goods move on time, within budget, and in line with compliance standards, while also maintaining effective partnerships with vendors and carriers, contributing to system enhancements, and improving operational efficiency. The role also involves supervising fleet utilization programs, audits, and TMS planning in cooperation with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Freight & Logistics Operations
- Supervise daily inbound and outbound freight processes for stores and distribution centers.
- Work closely with carriers, brokers, and 3PL partners to secure timely and cost-efficient deliveries.
- Track transportation results through KPIs such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and cost per shipment.
- Resolve service-related problems and take corrective steps to strengthen reliability.
- Ensure all shipping activities follow applicable regulations and industry requirements.
Fleet Coordination
- Lead fleet operations for company vehicles, including delivery vans and cars.
- Monitor usage, prepare reports, and carry out audits connected to fleet programs.
- Administer programs related to tolls, fines, maintenance, and fuel monitoring.
- Verify that vehicles meet all safety and maintenance standards.
Vendor & Carrier Management
- Develop and sustain solid working relationships with freight carriers, suppliers, and 3PL providers.
- Make sure vendors comply with standards for packaging, labeling, routing, and documentation.
- Perform periodic vendor audits to improve accountability and operational performance.
Financial Controls & Invoice Oversight
- Check carrier invoices each day to confirm accurate billing and GL coding.
- Collaborate with Finance and AP to verify charges, address discrepancies, and support accountability.
- Detect and suggest opportunities for cost reduction through reporting and data analysis.
Continuous Improvement & System Support
- Cooperate with retail and e-commerce teams to improve last-mile delivery solutions.
- Review parcel shipping data to identify trends, areas for better performance, and savings opportunities.
- Assist with TMS planning, system enhancements, and integrations aimed at future improvements.
- Propose and apply process changes that raise efficiency and service quality.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in transportation, supply chain, or a retail logistics network.
- Required background in DC and freight operations.
- Experience in invoice auditing and financial controls is highly preferred.
- Previous fleet management experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent analytical and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, TMS, and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-moving work environment.
- Excellent English communication skills at C1 level or above.
