Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Team as a Solutions Architect!
Babble is seeking a motivated professional with a strong interest in telecoms who performs well in a fast-moving and innovative setting. The company is focused on becoming its customers’ most trusted advisor for cloud-based technologies and is looking to strengthen its team with capable talent.
Purpose of the Role
The Solutions Architect acts as the senior technical authority within the Babble Professional Services team while also serving as a hands-on delivery specialist. The position is centered on implementing, configuring and deploying customer solutions across the Modern Workplace, Cyber Security, Network and Backup/DR domains. Functioning at Level 3 Engineer level, this role takes the lead on technically demanding, high-risk and multi-domain projects and establishes the technical benchmark for how solutions are configured and delivered across the team.
This position is also responsible for the design stage of customer engagements by preparing High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs and Statements of Work that turn requirements into production-ready solutions. Design and deployment are handled as one continuous process, with the Solutions Architect accountable for technical quality from initial design through to a deployed, tested and formally handed-over solution, while remaining actively involved throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead in hands-on delivery for complex, high-risk or multi-domain projects, including Azure Virtual Desktop deployments, advanced network architectures, multi-tenant security configurations, hybrid identity environments and large-scale migration programmes.
- Prepare High-Level Designs and Low-Level Designs for customer solutions across the Modern Workplace, Cyber Security, Network and Backup/DR domains, defining architecture, configuration specifications, integration needs and dependencies that underpin Professional Services delivery.
- Draft Statements of Work that set out project scope, deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, acceptance criteria and delivery milestones, ensuring both commercial and technical alignment between the sold solution and the delivered outcome.
- Offer technical direction and design assurance throughout delivery by checking implementation progress against HLD/LLD specifications, reviewing configuration choices made by other engineers and advising when approved designs need justified deviations.
- Serve as a senior technical point of support for the wider Professional Services team by clarifying design uncertainties, resolving environment conflicts, addressing vendor-specific issues and advising on scope boundaries to support successful delivery at every level.
- Assist with pre-sales technical work, including customer scoping calls, solution qualification, feasibility reviews and design contributions to proposals, so that opportunities are technically viable before commitment to a Statement of Work.
- Run technical design reviews with customers to verify requirements, confirm design assumptions, identify risks and obtain sign-off on the proposed solution architecture before delivery begins.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, deployment checklists, configuration baselines and design templates across the Professional Services team to promote consistency and quality in all project deliveries.
- Review UAT outcomes and technical acceptance for projects designed by the Solutions Architect, ensuring the delivered solution matches the specifications set out in the HLD/LLD and Statement of Work.
- Support the development of Level 1 and Level 2 engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, knowledge sharing and structured feedback, with a focus on career growth and stronger team capability within Professional Services.
- Work closely with the Service Desk, NOC and managed services teams so that solutions are designed with operational support in mind, including monitoring needs, escalation routes, documentation expectations and compatibility with ongoing managed services.
- Contribute to vendor relationship management by maintaining advanced certifications, joining vendor technical briefings, assessing new product capabilities and advising on the continued development of the Babble solution portfolio.
- Recognise and communicate project risks, design limitations and technical dependencies to Project Managers, the Solutions Delivery Manager and customers, while providing clear recommendations and mitigation options to support informed decisions.
- Lead post-implementation design reviews for complex projects by assessing how effective the design was against delivery outcomes, capturing lessons learned and feeding improvements back into design standards and templates.
- Keep expert-level technical capability and advanced vendor certifications current across the Babble solution portfolio, remaining up to date with platform roadmaps, architectural best practices and emerging technologies across Microsoft, Mimecast, Sophos, Acronis, networking and cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Extensive background in solution design and delivery across all four domains: Modern Workplace, Cyber Security, Backup/DR and Networking, as well as Azure.
- Proven experience producing design documentation such as High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs and Statements of Work, together with pre-sales technical involvement.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others and strengthen the technical capability of a delivery team.
Desired Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or its current Microsoft successor certification.
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100), or its current Microsoft successor certification.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102), or its current Microsoft successor certification.
- Sophos Certified Architect for Sophos Firewall and Sophos Central Endpoint/Server, with the corresponding Sophos Certified Engineer certification required as a prerequisite for each.
- Acronis Certified Engineer (Cyber Protect).
- Mimecast Certified Product Professional, Advanced level (Email Security, Cloud Gateway).
Advantageous Certifications
- PRINCE2 7th Edition Practitioner, or an equivalent project management certification such as PMP or APM PMQ.
- ITIL 4 Foundation, or ITIL Version 5 Foundation, in IT service management.
- CISSP (ISC2), or an equivalent senior security certification; CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) is accepted as a foundational alternative.
- CrowdStrike Falcon certifications such as CrowdStrike Certified Falcon Administrator (CCFA) or Falcon Responder (CCFR), along with familiarity with the Falcon Complete managed detection and response service.
