Job Description
Become an Account Management Team Leader in our fast-moving team!
If telecommunications interests you and you perform well in an innovative, high-paced setting, this opportunity may be suitable for you. Babble aims to become its customers’ most trusted advisor for cloud-based technologies and is seeking motivated, capable people to strengthen its team.
What you will do
The Account Management Team Leader will lead, coach and develop an initial group of three desk-based Account Managers serving UK customers. The role also involves direct responsibility for a focused portfolio of around 5-10 customers.
This is a player-coach position. The Team Leader will lead by example in customer and commercial work while establishing the operational cadence, quality assurance and everyday support needed for the team to achieve retention, account expansion, forecasting and positive customer outcomes.
As the team’s initial escalation contact, the role will verify account plans and forecasts, assist with progressing opportunities, and ensure Salesforce is maintained as the single source of truth. The leadership scope may change as the Kosovo team expands.
Key responsibilities
Team leadership and coaching
Manage an initial team of three desk-based Account Managers while establishing a reliable and supportive performance routine.
Conduct structured weekly 1:1 meetings addressing customer priorities, pipeline, forecasts, risks, development and wellbeing.
Provide coaching on customer discussions, account planning, opportunity qualification, negotiation and responding to objections.
Establish unambiguous expectations, record agreed actions and ensure commitments are completed.
Assist with onboarding, service knowledge and professional development for both new and current team members.
Team commercial performance
Maintain oversight of retention, renewals, growth pipeline and significant risks across the team’s portfolio.
Lead weekly reviews of pipeline and forecasts, testing assumptions and agreeing clear, customer-focused next actions.
Assess account plans and support Account Managers in finding realistic cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
Organise specialist assistance for important opportunities and address internal obstacles.
Deliver brief, evidence-based performance updates and a consolidated team forecast to the Director.
Customer portfolio ownership
Directly oversee approximately 5-10 UK customers.
Keep account plans, stakeholder maps, renewal preparedness and risk actions current for the assigned portfolio.
Conduct regular virtual reviews with customers and serve as the owner of the commercial relationship.
Find, qualify and advance suitable opportunities across Babble services.
Demonstrate the Salesforce, forecasting and customer follow-up standards required from the team.
Governance, risk and escalation
Retain a clear and accurate understanding of customer risks, renewal exposure, service issues and stalled opportunities throughout the team.
Make sure mitigation plans specify accountable owners, dates and intended customer outcomes.
Serve as the first escalation level, involving the Director and relevant functions when significant commercial or customer matters arise.
Encourage fair and consistent use of Babble processes and delegated authority.
Forecasting and Salesforce leadership
Ensure that account, contact, activity, opportunity and forecast records are complete and up to date for the team.
Confirm opportunity stage, value, close date, probability and next step using documented evidence.
Produce a reliable 30-day forecast for the team and a credible 90-day projection.
Apply Salesforce reporting to guide coaching, preparation and commercial decisions.
Maintain these same standards within the Team Leader’s own customer portfolio.
Cross-functional leadership
Develop productive relationships with Customer Success, Customer Experience, Product Specialists, Service, Finance and UK Sales Leadership.
Engage specialist colleagues in customer work and coaching at the right stage.
Represent the Kosovo team in applicable operational and commercial discussions.
Provide the Director with customer insight, recurring obstacles and identified development requirements.
Qualifications
Essential experience
Proven B2B account-management background, including evidence of retention, account growth and structured planning.
Hands-on ability to develop and deliver account plans.
Demonstrated success in retaining existing customers while building cross-sell or upsell opportunities.
Experience managing remote customer relationships through telephone, video and email.
Strong discipline in CRM and pipeline management, preferably with Salesforce or a comparable system.
Background in coaching, mentoring or informally guiding colleagues, with readiness to take on first-line people leadership.
Experience communicating professionally with UK or international business customers.
Preferred experience
Exposure to technology, telecommunications, managed services, cloud, IT support, cyber security or software services.
Experience with recurring-revenue or contract-based customer portfolios.
Experience collaborating with Product Specialists, solution teams or other cross-functional sales resources.
Involvement in commercial renewal, retention or win-back work.
