The Underwriting team is seeking Underwriter Trainees. This role involves reviewing, assessing, and pricing deals through evaluation of credit history, assets, the requested cash-advance amount, and suitable repayment terms.
Working hours: Monday–Friday, with rotating shifts from 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM and 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM.
The position is performed on site.
Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities:
Take part in a structured underwriting training program lasting several months, aimed at developing skills in small-business credit assessment, risk evaluation, and pricing principles.
Carry out comprehensive financial reviews to assess merchants’ creditworthiness and conduct risk-focused underwriting assessments of applications. Under senior underwriters’ supervision, this includes examining credit reports, bank statements, and other business records.
Thoroughly review bank statements to maintain the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data used for underwriting decisions.
Assess a merchant’s ability to repay by closely reviewing and validating the available information.
Assist senior underwriters with deal summaries and initial pricing suggestions for small-business funding, in line with internal credit policies.
Investigate applicants when needed.
Communicate with the internal sales team.
Show ongoing development by applying feedback, finishing mandatory training modules, and advancing toward independent underwriting duties.
Carry out other tasks and responsibilities reasonably connected to the role when required.
Undertake additional duties that are reasonably related to the position when necessary.
Qualifications
Experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field is preferred.
Professional certifications, training, or coursework relevant to management, business, finance, or similar fields are an advantage.
Written and spoken English at C1 level.
Capability to identify favorable and unfavorable patterns in cash flow and banking activity.
Experience in credit analysis or underwriting is beneficial.
Previous Bank Reconciliation experience.
Understanding of US business culture.
Proficiency with AI tools is an advantage.
Excellent analytical ability.
Capacity to manage several tasks, operate independently, and set priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Strong attention to detail and excellent risk-calculation skills.
Effective communication skills.
Sound decision-making and critical-thinking abilities.
A self-motivated person who can learn and adjust quickly to current and new procedures, then work independently with reliability and integrity.
