
The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of key departments during evening hours. This role ensures that brand standards are upheld, guest satisfaction is maximized, and operational issues are addressed promptly. The Duty Manager acts as the senior leader on duty, supporting departmental teams and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for guests and associates.
Leadership & Team Support
• Provide hands-on leadership and guidance to evening shift staff across operational departments.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment aligned with Marriott’s values.
• Ensure effective communication and handover between shifts and departments.
Guest Experience & Service Quality
• Act as the primary contact for guest concerns and service recovery during evening hours.
• Monitor guest feedback and take immediate action to resolve issues.
• Ensure consistent delivery of Courtyard’s service standards.
Operational Oversight
• Supervise Front Office operations including check-in/out, guest relations, and reservations.
• Support Food & Beverage service in outlets and room service, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Monitor Spa & Fitness Center cleanliness and guest safety.
• Ensure Housekeeping maintains room readiness and public area cleanliness.
• Liaise with Security to ensure guest and staff safety throughout the property.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Monitor compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with relevant teams or external authorities.
• Ensure security personnel adhere to hotel policies and procedures.

• Be flexible with working hours based on operational needs (e.g., weekends or holidays).
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager or General Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Business Administration and relevant universities.
Experience: Min. five years experience in hotel operations as Rooms Division Director, Food & Beverage Director or min. 2 years experience as an Operations Director.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work in a team and contribute to fostering an environment where every team member can excel
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
• Familiarity with Marriott systems (e.g., MARSHA, GXP, FSS) preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other hotel operational software
Strategic Planning & Improvement
• Contribute to hotel strategy development and operational planning.
• Contribute to projects related to guest services, facility upgrades, and operational innovation.
Other Responsibilities
• Shows flexibility with working hours, based on the requirements of the operation such as weekend duty when necessary.
• Complies with the company code of conduct, hotel policies and procedures, professionally, ethically and with the right attitude.
• Responsible for the confidentiality of the company information and guest information.
• Adheres to Fire, Health & Safety regulations of the hotel.
• Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
• Fulfills other responsibilities as requested by the Operational Manager and theGeneral Manager.
Other Qualifications: Excellent knowledge of verbal and written English. Should be a result oriented efficient leader with excellent communication skills. Should have excellent knowledge and experience in all operational functions of the hotel. Should have excellent planning and organizing skills, as well as problem solving and decision making skills and stress management skills. Budgetary analysis capabilities are key to success. Should have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other operational programs used in the hotel.
