Role Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Tirana at the University of Medicine, Tirana. The technician will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient specimens, following established protocols and safety procedures. Daily responsibilities include preparing samples, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, recording and analyzing test results, and reporting findings to medical and academic staff. The role involves assisting with quality control procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting teaching and research activities in laboratory medicine. The technician will collaborate with faculty, students, and clinical partners to help deliver reliable diagnostic services and contribute to a high standard of patient care and education.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Medical Technology and Laboratory Medicine, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
• Proficient Laboratory Skills, including specimen collection, preparation, processing, and safe handling of biological materials.
• Experience with Quality Control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with laboratory standards and regulations.
• Ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain Laboratory Equipment, and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Relevant vocational or university-level education in medical laboratory technology or a related health sciences field.
• Knowledge of infection control, biosafety practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with clinicians, faculty, and students.
• Previous experience in a clinical or academic laboratory setting is an advantage.
