INTERMODAL DISPATCHER

Full-Time Opportunity | Trucking & Logistics Company Based in the U.S.

Our operations team is looking for an experienced Intermodal Dispatcher. The role suits someone familiar with the rapid pace of U.S. intermodal trucking who can coordinate drivers, rail ramps, customers, and container movements effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign daily intermodal loads to company drivers and/or owner-operators.
• Arrange container collections and deliveries between rail ramps, customer facilities, warehouses, and container yards.
• Follow drivers' progress to keep pickups and deliveries on schedule.
• Keep track of container availability, appointments, free time, last free days, and equipment status.
• Maintain ongoing communication with drivers, customers, rail terminals, and the internal operations team.
• Resolve operational disruptions, including schedule adjustments, delays, breakdowns, and rejected containers.
• Supply drivers with correct load details, pickup numbers, appointment information, and delivery instructions.
• Keep the company's TMS updated with accurate load statuses.
• Help avoid unnecessary storage, demurrage, detention, and per diem charges.
• Keep complete, accurate, and well-organized records of daily dispatch operations.
• Communicate shipment updates and exceptions to customers promptly and professionally.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in U.S. intermodal trucking is highly preferred.
• A sound grasp of intermodal and rail operations is required.
• Familiarity with container terminology, chassis operations, rail ramps, appointments, and driver Hours of Service is needed.
