US Tax & Compliance Specialist -Remote

KUDO Accounting is recruiting an experienced US Tax & Compliance Specialist for a US accounting firm.

This is a full-time, remote and independent role open to candidates based in Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, or Montenegro.

The right candidate must already have hands-on experience working with US tax and compliance matters. This position does not provide training. If you do not meet the core requirements below, please do not apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle IRS, state and local tax notices from receipt through resolution
• Prepare and file Forms 2848 and state equivalents
• Communicate directly with IRS and state tax authorities
• Support federal and state tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations and C Corporations
• Handle payroll tax filings, registrations and notices
• Handle sales and use tax registrations, filings and notices
• Research US tax questions using IRS and state guidance
• Communicate directly with US clients and follow up on required information
• Manage compliance deadlines and recurring work
• Support client onboarding and practice operations

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous hands-on experience with US tax and accounting
• Experience resolving IRS or state tax notices independently
• Experience preparing US federal and state tax filings
• Knowledge of US payroll tax and sales & use tax
• Strong written and spoken English
• QuickBooks Online experience
• Ability to work independently without day-to-day technical supervision
• Availability for meaningful overlap with US Eastern Time

Experience with Karbon, Gusto, UltraTax, Drake, Lacerte, CCH or similar US tax software is preferred.

CPA, Enrolled Agent, or progress toward either qualification is a plus.

IMPORTANT

Experience only with local/EU accounting, VAT, payroll or statutory reporting is not sufficient for this role.
