Accounting Specialist
Schedule: Work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM US Eastern Time.
About the Role
Join a remote team as a detail-focused, analytical Accounting Specialist supporting the accounting functions of an expanding property management and real estate company.
At first, the position centers on reconciling bank and credit card activity, checking financial transactions, spotting inconsistencies, and gaining a solid understanding of how bank activity, invoicing, and charges move through reconciliation.
This role offers room for development. With increased familiarity with the company’s accounting procedures, systems, and operations, further accounting duties will be assigned progressively according to experience, performance, and business requirements.
Duties
Main Responsibilities
- Reconcile activity for several bank accounts.
- Complete reconciliations for credit cards.
- Check and reconcile financial transactions to ensure they are correct and complete.
- Detect discrepancies and examine variances in financial documentation.
- Build an understanding of how bank activity, billing, charges, and other transactions pass through reconciliation.
- Ensure a consistently high degree of precision when handling financial and numerical information.
- Learn and adhere to the accounting procedures and processes already in place.
- Gain familiarity with accounting platforms, financial tools, and internal work processes.
- Clearly communicate questions, discrepancies, and issues related to reconciliations.
- Assume additional accounting and financial duties gradually as the position evolves.
- Adjust to changing procedures, systems, and operational needs.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Around 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, or experience in a comparable accounting setting.
- Strong abilities with numbers and analysis.
- Excellent focus on detail and correctness.
- Competence with Microsoft Excel and familiarity in handling financial information.
- Effective written and spoken communication abilities.
- Comfort with technology and readiness to learn new accounting software, systems, and tools.
- Solid critical-thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Capacity to understand financial workflows and recognize inconsistencies.
- Ability to pick up new procedures quickly and work autonomously in a remote setting.
- Flexibility and willingness to accept broader responsibilities as the role expands.
