THE ROLE
Our expanding field Installation team seeks a motivated Junior HV Jointer. Designed for someone beginning a career in high voltage cable jointing, this opportunity offers practical experience on live electricity network projects alongside skilled jointers and engineers, covering HV cable installation, termination and jointing. A structured development pathway includes comprehensive training and mentoring to support progression toward full HV jointing qualification.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help experienced jointers install, joint and terminate high voltage (HV) cables according to project specifications and the relevant IEC standards.
- Provide assistance with preparing, testing and commissioning HV cable joints and terminations.
- Prepare cables under supervision, carrying out stripping, cleaning and screening tasks.
- Contribute to fault-location work, cable repairs and cable pulling whenever required.
- Consistently comply with health, safety and environmental (HSE) procedures and established safe systems of work.
- Keep precise records documenting completed work, materials consumed and test outcomes.
- Help ensure that tools, plant and jointing equipment are used, maintained and stored safely.
- Collaborate with site teams, engineers and client representatives so projects meet safety and quality requirements and remain on schedule.
- Take part in continuing training, toolbox talks and development activities leading toward full HV Jointer certification.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Foundational knowledge of electrical systems and HV cable networks is required; relevant vocational training, an apprenticeship or technical education is preferred.
- Readiness to pursue additional training and certification in HV cable jointing.
- Familiarity with IEC standards and safe working practices for HV networks, or a willingness to learn them.
- Possession of a valid driving licence.
- Careful attention to detail, together with a sincere commitment to health and safety.
- Strong manual dexterity and the capacity to handle precision tools and equipment with care.
- Availability to travel to project locations throughout the region, with overnight stays when needed.
- Effective communication and the ability to collaborate successfully within a team.
- English fluency is required; knowledge of other European languages is beneficial.
