About the role
This role supports an AI-native private school built around personalized 1:1 AI tutoring, mastery-based learning, and innovative physical learning environments. Its operating system, based on Azure and Microsoft 365, turns the curriculum into a dynamic Skill Graph, orchestrates AI-powered tutoring, and oversees school operations, spaces, and governance while securely managing sensitive student information.
What you'll do
- Design and implement a containerized, multi-tenant Azure infrastructure for the platform, with deployment and migration carried out region by region, beginning with Spain, followed by Switzerland, Saudi Arabia/UAE, Germany, and additional markets, in order to meet local data-residency requirements.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for the agentic AI platform, backend services, and the native Windows tutoring application.
- Take responsibility for the Azure AI Foundry deployment infrastructure, including traffic routing between on-device Small Language Models operating on managed Microsoft Surface tablets and cloud-based Frontier models used for heavier workloads such as media and lesson generation.
- Manage and design Microsoft 365 tenants for each school, with one legal entity/tenant per campus, serving as the foundation for collaboration and identity, integrated with Intune for managed and restricted student devices.
- Develop monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities for a system that needs to stay auditable and reconstructable while processing data related to minors.
- Plan the infrastructure for growth, starting from the first pilot campus with roughly 1,200-1,500 students and scaling up to 3,000 at full build-out, then extending to several additional school tenants in the coming years.
- Collaborate closely with the AI Engineer(s) and the Security Engineer so infrastructure boundaries remain clearly defined, including cases where certain local models must operate without outbound internet access.
- Assist the founder/Product Owner's team in preparing a credible effort estimate and an Azure architecture proposal during the current concept phase.
What you bring
- Strong practical experience operating production workloads on Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, containers/Kubernetes, or Azure Container Apps.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Bicep, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Background in administering Microsoft 365 tenants and managing devices through Intune or a comparable MDM solution.
- Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or a similar managed LLM platform.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent solutions.
- Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture and regional data-residency or segregation requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a 0-to-1, fast-paced environment moving from concept to build, alongside an engaged and technically fluent Product Owner.
- Fluent English skills; German is considered highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in EdTech or another field that handles sensitive personal data or minors' data.
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-500, or similar.
- Experience setting up new tenants or regions repeatedly as a product expands into new markets.
Why this role
This position offers the chance to be among the first engineers building the technical backbone of a solution created from scratch and backed by investors, working with a founder who is hands-on, experienced with Microsoft technologies, and receptive to being challenged on technical direction.

- A friendly and energetic working atmosphere.
