Guard (Armed)
Provides security for Embassy personnel and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening duties while armed as a member of a local guard program.
Responsibilities
- Conducts access control and visitor screening duties while armed as a member of a local guard program
- Prevents unauthorized access; protects life; maintains order; deters criminal attacks against employees, dependents, and property and terrorist acts against all U.S. assets; prevents damage to Government property
- Protects U.S. Government personnel, facilities, and equipment from damage or loss as one component of the Mission's security apparatus, complementing other physical, technical, and procedural security systems
- Carries out specific actions as described in General and Post Orders

- Salary: EUR €16,241 per year
- Work Schedule: Full-time – 40 hours per week (subject to shift work)

- Security Clearance Required: Public Trust – Background Investigation
- Education: Completion of secondary education, high school diploma or local equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience in the military, or as a police officer or security guard, required
- Language: Albanian Level 3 (good working knowledge) required; English Level 1 (rudimentary knowledge) required
- Job Knowledge: Knowledge of emergency response procedures and notification process; familiarity with state-of-the-art security equipment and processes; awareness of cultural norms and customs; Host Country/DS/Mission/Post firearm policy regulation
- Skills & Abilities: Ability to understand the security control panel and operate emergency alarms and the public address system; use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment; use Automated External Defibrillator; use fire extinguisher; use personal protective equipment (firearms, batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, flexi cuffs, etc.); walk and/or stand for extended periods in varied weather conditions; work flexible shift schedules including nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays; required to be current in SPE Qualification
- All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a security certificate; will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam
