About the role

This is not a traditional backend development role. We are looking for a versatile software engineer who enjoys working across backend development, frontend applications, integrations, DevOps and software architecture. While the primary focus is PHP and Laravel development, we expect candidates to be comfortable contributing to React-based applications, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure discussions and architectural decisions. You will help rebuild the company's next-generation CRM and operational platform, including integrations with accounting software, payment providers, subscription platforms and other business-critical systems. We're looking for someone who enjoys building platforms, not just features.

About the company

Our client is a fast-growing Dutch software and hardware company operating in the hospitality and retail sector.

The company develops an integrated platform that combines POS software, self-service kiosks, handheld devices, payment solutions and operational management tools. Their products are used daily by restaurants, delivery businesses and retailers to manage orders, payments and day-to-day operations.

To support the next phase of growth, the company is investing heavily in the redevelopment of its internal software landscape. A new CRM and operational management platform is being built to become the central hub for customer management, subscriptions, billing, support, hardware management and third-party integrations.

You will join a small international development team and play a key role in shaping the technical foundation of the platform. This is not a maintenance project, but an opportunity to help design, build and scale software that directly impacts the future of the business.

Responsibilities

• Building the company's next core-SaaS system
• Rebuilding the company's CRM and operational management platform
• Developing backend services using PHP and Laravel
• Designing and building REST APIs (JSON)
• Integrating third-party business systems and services
• Working with MySQL and business-critical data
• Contributing to React-based frontend applications
• Setting up and improving CI/CD pipelines
• Contributing to infrastructure and deployment decisions
• Helping define a scalable long-term software architecture
• Working closely with founders, operations and support teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong PHP and Laravel experience
• Experience with React and/or React Native
• Strong REST API (JSON) experience
• Experience integrating third-party systems
• Strong MySQL / relational database experience
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Understanding of scalable software architecture
• Able to work independently and take ownership
• English B2 minimum
