TRENDING WRITER (JOE)

LOCATION: This role is based on-site in Prishtinë.

JOB TYPE: FULL TIME - 12 month contract

SHIFT PATTERN: ROTA - EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS EXPECTED

Language: Outstanding written and spoken English is required

Compensation: €1000 NET

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• 3-4 years of experience in a media writing role.
• Proven background in covering sport and fast-moving news stories.
• Experience with SEO.
• Practical knowledge of Canva or comparable design tools.
• Preferred: background in a social-first publishing environment.
• Preferred: experience producing affiliate content.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce trending pieces and breaking news articles for publication across the JOE websites in Ireland and the UK.
• Collaborate with teams in Manchester, London and Dublin to develop daily trending and affiliate content for social channels and SEO use.
• Work closely with the Editorial Director and the Deputy Director of Editorial to develop original evergreen content with strong impact.
• Use audience data and user metrics effectively to guide best practices for JOE stories and editorial planning.
• Deliver articles in the JOE tone of voice, turn around copy quickly during breaking news situations, verify facts, and apply solid knowledge of media law across topics such as news, culture, entertainment and sport.
• Maintain consistency across style, fonts, images and tone, while also taking on any additional duties assigned by Senior Management.
• Be available to work trending news rota shifts, including evenings and weekends.

• Editorial research and fact-checking capability.
• Understanding of media law.
• Ability to perform well under pressure and contribute as part of a team.
• A high degree of curiosity and readiness to learn.
• Practical experience with Content Management Systems such as WordPress.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Broad interests across sport, politics and entertainment, with a strong grasp of internet culture.
• Confidence in using data and analytics to support decision-making.
