About the Role

In the role of Mid-Level Geospatial Annotator at Borek Solutions Group, you will contribute to the creation of AI-driven geospatial solutions by analyzing and annotating satellite, aerial, drone, and other geospatial imagery. The purpose of this work is to produce high-quality training data for machine learning and computer vision models. The position supports improvements in mapping precision, asset identification, land-use categorization, and other geospatial AI use cases.

You will work closely with GIS specialists, Quality Analysts, and AI/ML teams to provide precise labeling, segmentation, and classification of geospatial datasets across a variety of geographic regions and environments. The role also includes guiding junior annotators and contributing to quality review activities.

Responsibilities

• Label and categorize features visible in satellite, aerial, and drone imagery.
• Carry out tasks related to object detection, polygon annotation, semantic segmentation, and image classification.
• Detect and tag roads, buildings, utilities, vegetation, water bodies, infrastructure, and other geographic elements.
• Apply annotation instructions and quality criteria defined for each project.
• Examine and interpret geospatial imagery coming from different sources and resolutions.
• Help prepare datasets used in mapping, detection, segmentation, and classification processes.
• Work with high volumes of geospatial data while meeting accuracy and productivity expectations.
• Review completed annotations independently and take part in quality checks and correction processes.
• Spot inconsistencies, anomalies, and labeling mistakes while ensuring adherence to accuracy and turnaround standards.
• Cooperate with team leads and quality reviewers to refine annotation processes and project guidelines.
• Contribute to model improvement efforts through precise data labeling and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in geospatial annotation, GIS operations, remote sensing, mapping, or image labeling.
• Previous work on complex annotation projects involving aerial or satellite imagery.
• Capacity to mentor junior annotators and assist with quality review activities.
• High level of attention to detail and precision.
• Good command of English.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Understanding of remote sensing concepts and spatial data.
• Knowledge of machine learning data preparation workflows.
• Experience using annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, Scale AI, Supervisely, V7, or similar platforms.
• Ability to interpret imagery from satellite, aerial, drone, and other sensor sources.
• Understanding of object detection, classification, and segmentation techniques.
