About the Role

In the position of Junior Geospatial Annotator at Borek Solutions Group, you will contribute to the creation of AI-based geospatial solutions by reviewing and annotating satellite, aerial, drone, and other geospatial imagery. Your work will support the production of high-quality training datasets for machine learning and computer vision models. This role contributes to improving mapping precision, asset identification, land-use categorization, and other geospatial AI use cases.

By working alongside GIS specialists, Quality Analysts, and AI/ML teams, you will help maintain precise labeling, segmentation, and classification of geospatial datasets across a variety of geographic areas and environments. This role offers a strong starting point for developing a career in geospatial AI.

Responsibilities

• Classify and annotate features visible in satellite, aerial, and drone imagery.
• Carry out tasks involving object detection, polygon annotation, semantic segmentation, and image classification.
• Recognize and tag roads, buildings, utilities, vegetation, water bodies, infrastructure, and other geographic elements.
• Adhere to annotation instructions and quality requirements defined for each project.
• Produce high-quality datasets intended for machine learning and computer vision models.
• Examine and interpret geospatial imagery coming from different sources and resolutions.
• Help prepare datasets for mapping, detection, segmentation, and classification processes.
• Work with large quantities of geospatial data while meeting accuracy and productivity expectations.
• Cooperate with team leads and quality reviewers to enhance annotation workflows.
• Contribute to model-improvement efforts through precise data labeling and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in GIS, mapping, data annotation, image processing, or similar areas.
• Basic knowledge of maps, satellite imagery, and geographic features.
• High level of attention to detail and precision.
• Good English skills.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Understanding of remote sensing concepts and spatial data.
• Knowledge of machine learning data preparation workflows.
• Experience using annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, Scale AI, Supervisely, V7, or comparable platforms.
• Ability to interpret imagery from satellite, aerial, drone, and other sensor sources.
• Understanding of object detection, classification, and segmentation techniques.
